In a sense then, he says that we are to “face up,” “face in,” and “face out.”
The early Christians, following the coming of the Holy Spirit, understood all this.
They faithfully came together for worship in homes. They sang hymns and served communion
On top of this, the early Christians shared their lives with each other. Joys
and concerns were lifted up. This time together empowered them to go into the world and
share the faith and grow the church.
These early believers in Christ understood the importance of coming together as the church.
They realized that following Jesus is not an individual act. The church is the body of Christ.
As pastor at First UMC, I look forward to working with each of you to be the church.
We are called to meet individuals on the journey, nurture them in the faith, and send
them out in love. It is a joy and privilege to be on this path together
Over the next several months, I look forward to meeting each of you. I look forward to
hearing your stories and hearing about the ways God is working in your life and the life of
the church. I am anxious to hear about your hopes and dreams for the congregation.
I look forward to meeting and greeting you in Sunday worship and the Wednesday night
meals on July 14 and 21. I also look forward to visits in the office and community.
Please stop by to say “hi.” You can also reach me through e-mail and Facebook.
I am excited to start my ministry in Independence! Together, God is moving us forward as the
body of Christ! May God bless!
With Joy!
